When and Where: Cemetery Tours

Please provide your own transportation to the cemetery.  The cemetery is about three quarters of a mile from the hotels, a walkable distance, but keep in mind that you’ll also be walking in the cemetery. The better option is driving, and we encourage attendees to carpool in order to keep traffic in the cemetery to a minimum.   Take a right out of the Sheraton parking garage onto Boland Way; take the first right onto Main St.; take the second left onto State Street.   Then pass Willow on your right and almost immediately take Dwight Ext. on your right.   Merge onto Maple Street.   The address of the cemetery is 171 Maple Street, with the entrance (Cemetery Avenue) just before the intersection of Maple and Central Streets.   Please note that Cemetery Avenue does not look like a street and is a bit obscure as it sits in-between two buildings.   Just beyond Avon Place on the left, look for some dark red stone posts, and enter Cemetery Avenue b...

Sunday Morning Closing and Continental Breakfast

Whether you’re staying at the Sheraton or at the Marriott, on Sunday morning, before heading out to explore more new paths, join other conference attendees and speakers in celebrating new-found friendships over a complimentary continental breakfast of tea, coffee, juice, pastry, and fruit as our thank you for attending NERGC 2011.   The breakfast runs from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in the Sheraton’s Mahogany Room (Second Level of the hotel).   There will be a running slideshow of photos from the conference, and The Cat in the Hat will be there by 7:30 a.m. and stay until 9:30 a.m. or so.  The Cat won’t perform, but will mingle, provide photo opportunities, and can answer your questions about the Springfield Museums.

When and Where: Daily Schedules and Floor Plans

A reminder that “Exploring New Paths to Your Roots is being held in two hotels across the street from one another.  The Exhibit Hall and many lectures are at the Sheraton.   However, the opening session, one large lecture room, and the luncheons and banquets are at the Marriott.  PDF files of the Thursday, Friday, and Saturday daily “one-sheet” schedules, and hotel floor plans are now on the NERGC web page . Thursday, April 7th - Daily Schedule Friday, April 8th - Daily Schedule Saturday, April 9th - Daily Schedule Click the daily schedule links above or enter the NERGC 2011 site, and then scroll down to find the “buttons” that link to the files.  After you download and print out the files, you can see which sessions are scheduled for which rooms, and then look at the floorplans to see where the rooms are located.  All those registered for the conference by March 31 should have received an e-mail from NERGC providing links to the syllabus.  If...
